So many times people tell me their lives depend on famous people’s advice and recommendations. Anything from what to wear to core values and daily routines. Everything they think is worthy of being part of. Why? The answer’s straight forward: Because they get paid for marketing products and services and much more.
Social media has become the online equivalent of tv shopping. The same tempting offers of unique products, everything from fashion to diet and an increasingly big part of daily life and habits. It’s no wonder online sales peak in the pandemic with many people working from home. And it’s hardly surprising many household names make a fortune selling products and services most of us don’t need.
Bullies are everywhere. The adverts in tv breaks, online articles and papers. It’s a fact, we don’t get the opportunity to switch off and Think about what truly matters.
When people are unable to sleep for fear they’ll miss something online and didn’t catch up with new events during the night, what started out as a new exciting experience becomes an addiction.
Online addiction is just as dangerous as alcohol and drug addictions.
What happened to being our own person? With individual values and choices. Seeing and hearing the same people all the time in similar contexts bores me. Something happens inside our brains, when we’re confronted with repeated boring information aimed to entice us to buy products most of us don’t need and want. Our brains switch off and we start to believe we must have what everyone else seems to want and like.
I’ve met people whose addiction to buying what some celebrity claims is essential to have a good life, caused bankruptcy. My advice is to not permit anyone to decide what’s best for You. Good advice come from people who genuinely care, not famous people making a lot of many at other people’s expenses.
Make Your Own Decisions And Be Your Own Person. YOU are the best judge of what you need and how to live your best life.
