Life in a Twilight Zone

Distancing 2.jpg

Are you like me, wondering how long we must live with uncertainty and fear for ourselves and loved ones?

Covid-19 affects Everyone, irrelevant of background, circumstances and geographic location. It doesn’t matter who we are and what we do, the virus is contagious and life threatening until a vaccine can be developed. And even then, more pandemics and epidemics are likely to feature and control lives.

So, how does it affect our daily lives and what can we do to keep our sanity and not succumb to anxiety and panic attacks? Well, in my daily contact with people suffering with mental conditions, I’m increasingly aware and concerned how badly this virus affect and control lives. So much so, the risk of suicide and self harm has increased compared with life before Corona.

My advice to patients and everyone else is to take One day at the time, be vigilant and Keep a Distance. Social distancing is our best protection as is a steady Routine, such as regular exercise, a healthy diet and staying away from elderly people and keep in touch over the phone and online.

Significantly, it’s normal to feel scared and overwhelmed when out of control and this is especially true with a virus no one knew existed until recently. It takes Time and Patience to adjust to such a surreal bizarre situation, and living in a twilight zone and time before, during and after the virus.

There’s nothing good about a virus that kills and threatens our existence.

But having the Time to Think, Reflect and Prioritise what truly matter is a Positive thing.

Life’s transient and now more than ever we get the opportunity to focus on what deserves our time, loved ones and close friends. Living in today’s fast world where everything’s available to us online when we want it, robs us of genuine physical connections and That is what I believe everyone will value so much more after Covid-19.

Everyone I’m in contact with express two wishes:

Getting through this awful pandemic alive and healthy

Nurturing the people and things they didn’t realise matter most to them until recently

Now is the perfect time to catch up with all the things we normally don’t
get the time and inspiration to engage with.

My new novel, One Fatal Night, is out now and the perfect distraction
to everything that’s going on around us.
